Strength

 Faculty Excellence: The theoretical knowledge and practical sessions are rendered by well- qualified postgraduate teaching faculty.  Different teaching learning strategies: The department provides student centered teaching and learning by adopting innovative teaching learning methods like peer Group teaching, Self directed learning , Context Based Learning, Team based learning, Programmed Instruction method, Problem based teaching learning methods and Simulation.  OBG Simulation Lab: The Obstetrics and Gynaecology (OBG) Simulation Lab offers advanced resources for practical, hands-on training. It consists of a variety of simulators and manikins, including birthing simulators, IUCD and PPIUCD simulators, and obstetric and newborn manikins. Additionally, the lab is equipped with a diverse range of instruments, various models of fetus , pelvis, skull and 3D specimens.Faculties also provides training in IUCD and PPIUCD insertion, per vaginal examination, newborn resuscitation procedures, management of pre-eclampsia, eclampsia, postpartum haemorrhage and thorough antenatal, postnatal, and newborn assessments. Students are given extensive hands-on training in the lab before practicing in the actual clinical area.  OSCE: The implementation of Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE) in our OBG lab provide a structured and standardized method of assessing students' clinical skills and competencies in a controlled environment. This rigorous assessment process ensures that our students are well-prepared and confident in performing various obstetric and gynaecological procedures before they enter actual clinical settings.  Faculty Development Programmes:A key strength of our department is the robust faculty development programme. We organize bi-monthly presentations that provide a platform for research study presentations, critical analysis, and lively case discussions fostering a vibrant learning atmosphere. Additionally, our faculty members actively participate in various national and international workshops and webinars to enhance their knowledge and stay updated with the latest advancements in the field.  Comprehensive OBG Nursing Library: Our OBG Nursing Library boasts an extensive collection of textbooks, journals, offering comprehensive resources for study and reference.  Mother craft Classes: The OBG Nursing department in collaboration with OBG department of Sree Gokulam Medical College and Research Foundation has taken an initiative to establish a Child Birth Education unit(Mother craft classes) to prepare the pregnant mother for a healthy diet during the prenatal period, positive birth experience, Lactation counselling, newborn care and family planning counselling.  Nurse-Led Clinic Services: We offer nurse-led clinic services to the community for providing reproductive health, antenatal, and postnatal education.  Comprehensive Question Bank: A significant strength of the OBG Nursing Department is the meticulously prepared question bank.
