Child Health Nursing

The Child Health Nursing Department at our institution is committed to excellence in pediatric nursing practice, education, and research. The mission of the Child Health Nursing Department is to provide efficient and high-quality nursing education to prepare professionals striving towards optimizing the health of newborns and children based on evidence and the modern concept of child care in changing health care scenario. Goals

The objectives of the Child Health Nursing Department are to: 1. Prepare graduates and postgraduate nurses to provide family-centered, evidence-based, and comprehensive care to children in hospitals and community settings 2. Prepare graduates and postgraduate nurses as efficient educators, researchers, and managers in areas of child health nursing practice. 3. Plan, implement, and evaluate courses in Child Health Nursing in undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programs 4. Ensure excellent academic performance and overall development of students in Child health nursing course 5. Participate in clinical and community research projects

Strength

Faculty Excellence: The theoretical knowledge and practical sessions are rendered by well-qualified postgraduate teaching faculty. • Different teaching learning strategies: The department provides student centered teaching and learning by adopting innovative teaching learning methods like peer Group teaching, Self directed learning , Context Based Learning, Programmed Instruction method, Problem based teaching learning methods and Simulation. • Paediatric Lab: A well equipped Pediatric lab with neonate, Infant mannequin ,Toddler mannequin, simulator , NICU layout, Instruments, materials and articles needed for Paediatric invasive and non-invasive procedures, Health education materials, Models, Diorama, and Charts for public health teaching are available. The students get module based training in FBNC, ENBC, NRP , PLS, IMNCI . Simulation-based education also provide to students. Various toys for all age groups have been displayed. Students are given extensive hands-on training of paediatric procedures in the lab before practicing in the actual clinical area. • OSCE: The implementation of Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE) in our paediatric lab provides a structured and standardized method of assessing student’s clinical skills and competencies in a controlled environment. This assessment process ensures that our students are well-prepared and confident in performing various paediatric procedures before they enter actual clinical settings.

Add-On Course

We aim to introduce new specialized courses in PALS , NALS and Immunization . These courses will provide students with in-depth knowledge and skills, preparing them for specialized roles in the field child health nursing.

Future Plan

• Collaborative Research: Our department plans to increase research opportunities for both faculty and students by establishing research collaborations with national and international institutions. • Faculty Development and Continuous Learning: To ensure our faculty remains at the forefront of the field, we will continue to invest in faculty development programs. This includes supporting the faculty to attend national and international conferences, workshops, and webinars, as well as encouraging faculty to pursue advanced degrees and certifications.

Departmental Facilities:

The Department of Child Health Nursing trains the care of neonates, children, and adolescents in both the programs of undergraduate and postgraduate Nursing students based on the Indian Nursing Council curriculum. The Department of Child Health Nursing aims to maintain excellence in pediatric nursing practice, education, and research. The department believes in fostering a Comprehensive, collaborative, interdisciplinary relationship-based approach to Nursing care through the delivery of compassionate, culturally sensitive, and Family-centered care. It also aims to achieve excellence in patient outcomes through continuous performance improvement using evidence-based practice research.
